Taking our governments back

According to an article in the Times-News of August 1999, the Cattails Golf Course  at Meadowview was

“projected to exceed expenses by approximately $370,000 in FY2000″.

Further, the original gap between operations and debt service was only about $130,000.  This gap was “expected to continually grow smaller”.  However, the budget information provided to auditors in FY2008-2009, shows that the City of Kingsport is paying $783,100 into Cattails from our regional sales tax.   The City of Kingsport owns Cattails.  Why is our city sinking almost a million dollars into this?  What purpose is this golf course for the City of Kingsport and its tax payers?

As you can see future money spent is still above the projected 2000 amount We are still in a major loss for this project. Remember “the city would pay any deficit in these operations”

It is time to sell this waste and burden on tax payers dime.
